General remarks on heating economically

In order to leave behind a clean environment to our children, it is an important task to efficiently deal with energy resources and to reduce CO2 emission. On top of that, using less energy means the purchaser saves on costs.

In order to achieve this, MULTIBETON underfloor heating offers favourable conditions: it is simply heated less.

How is this economy achieved?

First of all, the basis for realizing economy is the theory of MB modulation, by means of which heat is precisely directed to where it is needed. This results in a low heating temperature. Based on these two factors, modulation and low heating temperature, there will arise favourable heat radiation conditions with best possible energy efficiency.

We can see the result in Kollmar's temperature profile diagrams. Here it is made clear that the temperature will drop slightly, yet continuously with the room height increasing. In practice, this means that heated air supplied from below will slowly, yet permanently consume on its way to the top. We thus recognize that the temperature is optimally supplied for personal use.

Where is the potential for energy savings?

  1. There are less losses as a result of temperature differences between the low heating temperature and the contact temperatures the outside walls, cracks and other ventilation openings.

  2. There are fewer losses because there is no turbulence (think of heating surfaces with zones that are too cold and too warm).

  3. The losses are less because the user gets the temperature required with increasing height without a round about route being taken. There is no energy rich heat cushion under the ceiling that is of little use.

  4. Energy savings are achieved because all living room users with an MB Heating System experience a room temperature they find to be comfortable at several degrees lower and they can thus turn their heating Down low.

  5. According to an acknowledged expert calculation for each 1°C sinking of room temperature there is an energy saving of approx. 6%.

All in all these factors lead to the conclusion that there is not a lot of heating being done just anywhere, but precisely there where the users need it and because of this there is less heating done.
